My (civilly) disobedient daughter

My daughter, along with hundreds of other students in Wisconsin, walked out of school today to protest Gov. Walker's proposal to take away collective bargaining rights from state unions. Ashley is prepared to face the consequences for ditching school, we talked at length about civil disobedience and she knows what she is doing. We are proud of her.

Ashley is marching on the capitol to support the public school teachers, but it is more than just school teachers who are affected by this. This affects doctors, nurses, health care workers in many different fields, secretaries, food service workers, janitors, translators and so many more people that I can't list them all.

Does anyone really think it will end with state employee unions? This is just the start. I hope that our elected representatives will listen to what the people of this state are saying.
